We're building support teams to help people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Are you interested in helping pick up groceries or other needed items? Or building a connection with someone who spends their days in isolation?
To join a support team, look at some of our groups and complete the quick survey on this page. We will then contact you. If you prefer to talk to someone, dial the parish office, (253) 631-1940, Monday through Friday, 10a-3p.
Food Bank Team: Our most pressing need! We need 20+ additional volunteers for this group. Volunteers hand out pre-packaged bags at our drive-through line, sort inventory, or pack bags of food. (We carefully follow CDC guidelines, and Food Bank volunteers need to be under 60 years old.)
Grocery Team: Pick up groceries for those who can’t leave their homes. (No personal money involved.)
Errands Team: Run errands (like to the pharmacy) for those who must stay home.
Check-In Team: Call to check if someone is doing OK, or just to say “Hi.”
Faith & Life Groups Team: Help create a new ministry for small groups of families/singles who want to walk with other parishioners. (Use phone, Zoom, skype, etc.) This is something simple and friendly, and a great chance to build community, especially with others who are far from family or live alone.
Until everyone can meet again in our parishes for Sunday Mass, this is a concrete and personal way to become the communion we need. This is how we act as members of one body, where the suffering and joy of one becomes the suffering and joy of all.
And you might wonder: Why couldn’t this be the life and mission of a parish even when the pandemic is over? If so, you wonder correctly. Maybe this is how a time of crisis becomes a time of new birth.”
